Application Process
1. Surface Preparation
Ensure the surface is fully cured (28 days for new plaster), dry, and free from loose materials. Remove paint, dirt, and loose particles using wire mesh or sandpaper. Check moisture content—it should be below 12% for superior performance. Fill minor cracks with Home Shield Crack Fill Paste; larger cracks (over 5mm) must be filled with cement work and allowed to dry completely. The surface should not be exposed to continuous water seepage or be prone to efflorescence.
2. Mixing
Mix Seal-O-Prime with clean, potable water at a 1:1 ratio (depending on required consistency). Stir thoroughly until uniform. Adjust dilution based on surface porosity and application requirements.
3. Application
Apply one coat of Seal-O-Prime using a brush or roller, ensuring complete and even coverage. Allow to dry for 4-6 hours before applying topcoat. Apply an extra coat only if necessary, particularly on highly porous or problematic surfaces. Do not apply when rain is forecast within 24 hours.
4. Top Coat
After Seal-O-Prime has dried completely (4-6 hours), apply 2 coats of your chosen exterior or interior emulsion paint according to manufacturer’s recommendations. The sealed surface will provide better coverage and sheen.
