Application Process

1. Surface Preparation

For Fresh/New Surfaces: Allow adequate curing time (minimum 28 days for new plaster). Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, algae, dirt, and other contaminants. For new wood surfaces, sand to a smooth finish in the direction of the wood grain.

For Previously Painted Surfaces: Ensure surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, algae, dirt, and contaminants. Surfaces showing cracking, peeling, chalking, or efflorescence should be wire brushed, scraped, and sanded to remove loose flaking material and reduce previous film to a flat finish. Thoroughly dust down the entire surface.

Fungal or Algal Growth Treatment: If present, first power wash the substrate, then scrub with Berger Biocidal Solution. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry. Apply another coat of Berger Biocidal Solution and ensure it is top coated the same day before being affected by rain.

2. Protection of Adjacent Areas

Cover windows, doors, switchboards, and other fixtures with protective plastic sheets to prevent paint spillage. Protect floors and adjacent surfaces from paint drops.

3. Priming

For optimal adhesion and enhanced durability, apply one coat of recommended exterior primer (such as Berger Seal O Prime or Alkali Sealer for surfaces with alkalinity issues). Allow the primer coat to dry completely before proceeding with topcoat application (typically 4-6 hours).

4. Paint Mixing & Preparation

Shake well before use. Stir thoroughly to ensure uniform consistency. Strain the material through a fine sieve if necessary to remove any lumps or skin formation. The paint can be applied directly or diluted slightly with clean water if needed (maximum 5-10% dilution recommended).

5. Paint Application

Application Methods: Apply using high-quality brush, roller, or spray equipment. For brush application, use synthetic brushes for best results. For roller application, use medium-nap rollers.

First Coat: Apply the first coat evenly, ensuring uniform spreading and proper coverage. Maintain consistent stroke direction for a smooth finish. Avoid over-thinning or over-extension. Allow 3-4 hours drying time between coats under normal conditions.

6. Final Finishing

Second Coat: Apply the second coat uniformly to achieve optimum color depth, protection, and the characteristic rich sheen finish. Ensure complete coverage without missed spots or streaks.

Quality Check: Inspect for uniform coverage, consistent sheen, and smooth finish. Touch up any areas as needed while the paint is still workable.

7. Curing & Post-Application Care

Allow the final coat to cure for at least 7 days before exposing to heavy washing or cleaning. During the initial curing period, protect from direct water exposure for optimal film formation and durability.

8. Safety & Storage

Safety: Use in well-ventilated areas. If paint comes in contact with eyes, flush immediately with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention. If skin contact occurs, wash thoroughly with soap and water. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep container tightly closed when not in use to prevent skinning and drying. Dispose of empty containers responsibly.
